We're back from Spring Break and we're reading to work!

Thank you so much, parents for being so flexible this week with the math test and homework!  Next week we will be back to our normal routine!

Here is what we did this week:

In math, we reviewed money, fractions and making change and took our Unit Eight math test on Tuesday.  Don't worry, parents, unit eight was full of developing goals, which means I don't excpect your kids to be able to do this every single time.  These are all very hard skills which we will be practicing more and more throughout the year.  They will also practice this more next year.  We just started unit nine, so we're working on finding patterns on the number grid and continuing our work with money.

This week in reading we practiced our words with ar, ing endings, fantasty and reality, and writing summaries.  We are getting very good at reading!  We reviewed a lot of things that we were working on before the break because Mrs. Anderson didn't want us to forget all of it!  In writing, we finished writing our story about a snow day.  We started it before break.

In science, we reviewed heat and learned about light.  We know that they are both types of energy.  Heat is a type of energy that makes things hotter and light is a type of energy that helps us see.  We went outside and traced shadows.  We know that shadows form when there is an object that the light cannot pass through.

Thanks for stopping by to check up on us!

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break, I know I did!  I can't believe January is already here!  We are half-way through with this school year!  This year is going by way too fast!  The kids are growing and learning SO MUCH!  It's good, but it still makes me sad to think my time with them (and you) is already half-way over.   I hope you are all enjoying this school year as much as we are in Mrs. Anderson's Room.

December was a crazy-busy month for all of us, and I apologize for not keeping up on the website.  I've been working on it during our break, and I will be trying to keep up on in better throughout the second half of the year.  Please check out our student work section and see the new work I posted.  If your child is missing some work, that means your child either didn't hand it in, didn't complete it, or was absent the day we did that assignment.  Also, if your child has NO work on the website, that means I don't have permission from you to put it up on the web.  If you'd like to see your child's work up here, please let me know and I'll get you a permission form to fill out.  The January calendar and newsletter will be posted by Tuesday, so make sure you check that out, too.

A big thank-you to all the parents and other family memebers who helped me out in December.  Thank you for bringing your child to school every day, brining your child to our holiday concert, and helping out with the Christmas party by sending in treats and volunteering your time.  I really appreciate all you do for your child and our class!  You're the best parents ever!

Thank you for stopping by,

Mrs. Anderson

Hello, parents!

January is going to be a big month in terms of reviewing and testing.  Please make sure that your child is at school every day before 8 AM.  If your child needs to miss school for illness, an appointment, or a family emergency, please make sure you let the office know that your child will be out that day.  If your child has been absent, please make sure that make-up work gets done returned to school in a timely manner.  When students are absent or tardy often, they have a very hard time catching up on work they missed, taking tests they missed, etc...  Thank you so much for you help in this matter!
